Worst injury ever

Remember our discussion about playoff beards, posted a few days ago? Well, following a terrible performance on Friday against the Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo shaved his beard to change things up and get a fresh start. It seems to have worked - the Canucks won last night's game handily, 4-1.

The Blackhawks now lead the series 3 games to 2, meaning that they only have to win one more to knock Vancouver out of the playoffs for good. The next game is on Tuesday night. It remains to be seen if our mulleted-friend Patrick Kane of the Blackhawks follows Luongo's lead and heads to the barber chair to inspire his team. We can only hope and pray.

Another note from the game: Canucks defensemen Sami Salo was taken to hospital after possibly rupturing his testicle. Oh. My. God. The powers that be are now saying that's not the case, but there's no word on what the injury actually was.

And finally, your Monday Man: Mike Cammalleri of Richmond Hill, Ontario. He plays for the Montreal Canadiens, and since the Canadiens will be knocked out of the playoffs if they lose to the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight, I thought I should feature him before it's too late. At just 5'9" and 182 pounds, he's pretty small for the NHL. But in this case, I think good things come in small packages.
